We find evidence for the nobility of Saint –Géry from the 9th century on. The birthplace of this family was Lascabanes, on the high land of the village, in a castle defending the approaches from southern Quercy. A branch of the family of the Counts of Toulouse, they participated in the crusades to the Holy Land, and founded a religious order there.
In 1305, we find at le Temple du Bastit en Quercy, one Gaucelme de Saint-Géry, commander of the Temple d’Espalion.
The coat-of-arms of les Seigneurs de Saint-Géry, «Argent on a bend gules, accompanied by six croisettes in equal neat lines », with, as motto « in hoc signo vinces » (Under this crest you will vanquish), the name of Saint-Géry is said to come from Saint-Didier, bishop of Cahors around the 7th century.
